  1. LCD Display Resolution and Aspect Ratio Guide for OEM Projects

LCD display resolution is the horizontal-by-vertical count of addressable pixels. It must be selected together with the physical active area, aspect ratio, user-interface content, controller memory, refresh rate and interface timing. This guide helps…

  2. Active-Matrix vs Passive-Matrix LCD: How They Differ

Active-matrix and passive-matrix LCDs differ primarily in how electrical voltage is written to and maintained at each display element. This engineering guide is for OEM teams comparing addressing architectures; it does not replace the…

  3. What Is a TFT LCD Display? Structure and How It Works

A TFT LCD display is a liquid-crystal display that uses a thin-film-transistor active-matrix backplane to address individual subpixels. The TFT switch and storage capacitance set and hold each subpixel voltage, while the liquid-crystal and…

  4. TN vs IPS LCD Displays: Which Is Better for OEM Products?

For color active-matrix OEM displays, TN and IPS are liquid-crystal operating modes commonly used in TFT LCD modules. TN can be a practical choice for fixed-view, cost-sensitive products with simple interfaces. IPS is usually…

  5. LCD Procurement Guide for OEM Display Projects

A reliable LCD sourcing decision compares more than unit price. Before supplier award, an OEM should control the display requirement, supplier evidence, quotation assumptions, sample-validation plan, change process and lifecycle risk. This hub gives…

  6. What to Include in a TFT LCD Module RFQ

A good TFT LCD module RFQ should tell the supplier what the display must do, how it will be installed, what host electronics will drive it, and which risks must be controlled before sampling.…

  7. LCD Module Sourcing Risks Checklist for OEM Buyers

LCD module sourcing risk is the possibility that a display which looks acceptable on a quotation or datasheet later causes redesign, delay, field failure or an unexpected end-of-life replacement. OEM buyers should evaluate technical…

  8. Custom LCD Project Risk: Design to Production Checklist

Custom LCD projects fail when environmental, thermal, and mechanical risks aren't reviewed early. This engineering roadmap reduces redesign costs and field failures through Stage-Gate control.

Common Project Questions

What should be checked before requesting an LCD quote?

Share the known size, resolution, interface, brightness target, touch or cover-lens needs, operating environment, quantity and mechanical constraints. A drawing or photo of the current part can help when available.

Can an LCD replacement be approved from size and connector appearance alone?

No. Compare the actual drawing, pinout, electrical requirements, timing, FPC route, backlight method, optical stack, enclosure and operating conditions before treating a replacement as compatible.

When should optical bonding be discussed?

Discuss it when reflection, contrast under ambient light, touch-stack construction, condensation resistance or cover-lens integration materially affect the application. The appropriate stack depends on the project requirements.

Have A Project-Specific Question?

Send the requirements you already know, and mark any open items. Our team can review the display in the context of your product.
